Alison grew up in a small town outside of Yosemite National Park, where her love of the outdoors was instilled at a young age by her parents, who dragged her and her two sisters on backpacking trips in the summer and ski days on the weekends in the winter.
Alison’s interest in architecture began during her undergraduate education at Westmont College, a small liberal arts school in Santa Barbara, CA. After completing her BA in Psychology, she moved to Seattle, WA for a summer design program for prospective students of architecture. Architecture was a fascinating subject because of the multifaceted ways in which it engages and reflects the world. This complexity enables her to draw on her studies of art, philosophy and psychology from her liberal arts background.
Since graduating from the MArch program at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc), most of her experience has been with small residential projects in the hills of Los Angeles, CA. A recent move to Dallas, TX has brought her to SHM. She is excited to explore a new city and take part in the thriving arts & design community here in Dallas. In her spare time, she enjoys making bread, traveling, and being outside with friends, family and her dog, Maggie.
