Bariya recently relocated to Dallas, Texas before which she lived in Karachi, Pakistan. At a very young age she knew she wanted to design houses for people so after high school she attended the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture where she completed her Bachelor’s in Architecture. During the five years she explored how to design culturally and socially sensitive spaces to create sustainable communities.
After her graduation, she worked for an architecture design firm in Karachi where she gained experience in commercial, healthcare and institutional projects. Alongside her architectural work, Bariya worked on independent projects such as retail and library. Through her education and professional experience she has developed a flare for interior architecture which brings together materiality, scale and spatial planning. The detail oriented nature of the work sparked an interest in interior design which she is passionate in taking it forward at SHM Architects.
In her spare time she enjoys practicing yoga, reading and volunteers to assist immigrants to find jobs. She looks forward to traveling and experiencing places, food and local culture.
