David attended the University of Arkansas Fay Jones school of architecture and design (go hogs!) and graduated in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture. He was born and raised in Hot Springs Arkansas. Growing up around a family-owned restaurant for most of his childhood taught David many valuable lessons that he has carried over into his architecture career. He likes to think food brings people together, much like architecture can.
David had the opportunity to work on a variety of building typologies while interning through architecture school. Upon graduating, he moved to Dallas and worked primarily in multifamily housing prior to joining SHM in fall of 2020.
David believes good design in architecture can exist anywhere regardless of budget with a thoughtful plan that balances both beauty and function. He tends to be influenced by nature and how the use of natural materials in architecture can create a sense of place and comfort.
Inspiration is everywhere, David loves all things design and often finds inspiration in furniture, product design as well as other art forms. He finds it interesting how others perceive or capture space and objects.
What drew him to SHM, apart from the great culture and talented people he gets to work with, was the firms process and approach to architecture and the attention to detail that goes into every project.
David has a love for traveling that really catapulted after studying abroad in Italy during architecture school. Now he is always looking forward to his next trip! He enjoys watching sports and spending quality time with friends, family, and his fiancé Luiza. David is always looking for the next best margarita in-town to enjoy with them!
