Gerald D. Cowart, FAIA
Gerald Cowart, FAIA is a Principal at SHM-Cowart Studio in Savannah, GA. Prior to joining SHM Architects, Gerry was the founding principal of Cowart Group Architects. His 38 years of experience include custom high-end residential, and master planning projects.
Gerry’s design philosophy is steeped in a deep respect and commitment to the art and science of Southern architecture. He has won over 30 design awards from the American Institute of Architects and was elevated to Fellow in the AIA in 2017. His experience listening to clients’ dreams and creatively interpreting and delivering exceptional homes is a hallmark of his practice of architecture.
Gerry has a Master of Architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia. He and his wife, Sally, have two children, and three grandchildren. He is active in his community and enjoys being outdoors and on the water.
Gerry is a registered architect in the states of Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, and Tennessee and is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.
