Gretchen grew up in Dallas, Texas where she was homeschooled for most of her life. Part of her curriculum included design apprenticeships and art classes, which she excelled in. This early introduction to the world of design ultimately led her to study Interior Design at the University of Arkansas (Woo Pig!).
While in college, Gretchen realized she was as passionate about architecture as she was interior design and this only became more apparent after studying abroad in Rome, Italy then traveling Europe for a summer.
Gretchen eventually accepted a job in Denver, Colorado as an interior designer and architectural draftsman. While in Denver she developed a strong understanding and appreciation for architecture and decided to pursue a career path as an interior architect with SHM. She now works on both architecture and interior projects and enjoys being involved in the entire process from start to finish.
When she isn’t working, Gretchen loves to travel, snowboard, attend concerts, and hangout with her friends and family.
