John-Taylor grew up on his family’s farm in southern Mississippi, where his early connection to nature shaped a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors. During his time studying landscape architecture at Mississippi State University, this appreciation evolved into a passion for the profession—designing sustainable, thoughtful spaces that seamlessly blend the natural world with the built environment to enhance everyday life.
Before joining the SHM team in 2025, John-Taylor built over seven years of professional experience, working on a variety of projects throughout the Gulf South. Centered in South Louisiana, his portfolio spans high-end residential properties, commercial developments, and higher education campuses. Known for his clear, compelling graphics, he excels at communicating design ideas to clients, contributing to award-winning projects at both regional and national levels.
John-Taylor is driven by a love of design in all aspects of life—not just the landscape. When he’s not working, you’ll find him gardening, enjoying the outdoors (weather permitting!), spending time with friends and family, or chasing new adventures that inspire his creativity.
