A new film series revealing a behind the scenes look at SHM’s design philosophy and process called “Thinking” has just been released. Featuring commentary by founding principals David Stocker, Mark Hoesterey, and Enrique Montenegro, the short film takes a deep dive into the realm of how we “Think” about our design process, the role of history in the work, and our aspirations to leave behind spaces that have an intangible enduring quality.

Episode 1: Thinking SHM Architects is a boutique design studio founded in 2005 in Dallas, Texas by David Stocker, Mark Hoesterey, and Enrique Montenegro. We believe creating beautiful places with purpose requires two things: passion and time. Our process is rooted in an obsession with the craft, and results in personalized, luxurious designs that are always aspirational. We are passionate lifestyle curators who firmly believe time and heartfelt principles lead to beautiful, bespoke solutions. This philosophy has inspired a body of widely published and award-winning work in a variety of styles, in locations across North America. In 2019, we launched SHM’s first satellite studio in Crested Butte, Colorado, reflecting our sustained commitment to servicing clients across the Mountain West region. We balance our passion for design with a humble approach toward our clients, a cherished family atmosphere in the office, and a heart for service in our community.
