Driven by a desire to encourage playful discoveries, we designed “Spacemaker” as if it were a giant endlessly customizable toy.
A modular system of nine Activity Panels can be easily arranged and rearranged by sliding them along a grid of grooves in the floor and ceiling. This flexibility allows variable levels of enclosure beneath a colorful umbrella-like roof structure.
Each themed Activity Panel uniquely engages the senses, including a peg board, “Connect Four” game, chalk board, climbing and bungee wall, musical chimes, pots and pans noisemaker, and a kid-sized LEGO wall!
Dallas CASA volunteer advocates protect children, restore childhood, and help child victims of abuse and neglect achieve their full potential.
CASA was founded in 1977, when a Seattle superior court judge, amidst an overwhelmed child welfare system, grew concerned about making decisions on behalf of abused and neglected children in his court without enough information. He felt that more individualized attention and time for gathering important facts would produce better outcomes for the children. He decided to appoint community volunteers to work on behalf of the children in his court.
